| Check battery and tire tread— special snow tires may help for extra snowy and icy conditions. | Check your antifreeze— it should be replaced every two years in most vehicles. |
| Replace wiper blades— if necessary they should be replaced every six months. | Keep the gas tank at least half full— decrease the chances of moisture forming in the gas lines and possibly freezing. |
| Practice cold weather driving— rehearse maneuvers slowly on the ice or snow in an empty lot. Steer into a skid. | Don’t get overconfident with four-wheel drive— it helps you get going quicker but it won’t help you stop any faster. |
| Leave plenty of room for stopping and brake early— it takes more time to stop when roads are wet or icy. | Avoid driving while you're fatigued — Getting the proper amount of rest before taking on winter weather tasks reduces driving risks. |
